My Cinecam RIG

Over the past three years, I have developed and refined my own cinecam rig specifically for live broadcasting. The setup is designed to be reliable, flexible and fast to operate, allowing me to control the key camera functions without interrupting the shooting process.

Cinecam Rig Configuration:

▷ Camera: Sony FX3 – a compact full-frame cinema camera offering excellent low-light performance, high image quality and flexible colour settings that can be matched to broadcast cameras.

▷ Gimbal: DJI RS4 Pro – a reliable professional gimbal providing smooth and stable camera movement while maintaining a compact and highly mobile setup.

▷ Variable ND: NiSi Cinema C5 Matte Box – professional VND system providing precise exposure control while maintaining consistent colour and image quality.

▷ Focus & Lens Control: DJI Focus Motor – allows fast switching between autofocus and manual focus, providing precise focus control when required.

▷ Tilta Nucleus Nano II Motors – motorised control for both ND and zoom. ND can be adjusted remotely to maintain the desired aperture and depth of field, while the zoom motor allows quick focal-length changes for more flexible framing.

▷All motorised functions are controlled from the Nucleus Nano II Control Handle, providing fast and seamless access while operating the camera.


▷ Monitor & Camera Control: Portkeys LH5P III – provides monitoring and wireless camera control, including key settings such as white balance, frame rate and ISO, allowing adjustments without reaching for the camera.

▷ Power: SmallRig V-Mount Battery – a single battery powers the complete rig, providing long operating time while keeping the setup clean and easy to manage. Battery changes can be performed quickly when required.

▷ Sigma 16–28mm F2.8 – used in tight spaces and situations where a wide field of view is required. The 16–28mm range also provides flexibility for more traditional zoom-based framing while shooting in a Steadicam-style setup.
Sigma 24mm F1.4 – used when a more cinematic look is required with shallow depth of field.
Sigma 24–70mm F2.8 – a versatile general-purpose zoom providing additional reach and flexibility.

▷ Wireless Transmission: DJI SDR Transmission 2 – brand new compact and cost-effective wireless transmission system capable of transmitting up to 4K/60p with low latency and long-range operation.
